I work at a furniture store in Atlanta, GA. I do not have a car, so it is just about a block walk to my closest Krispy Kreme location at 633 Evans Street, Atlanta, GA 30310. For the past few weeks after I get off work, I have been going to Krispy Kreme to sit and wait on my husband to pick me up after he gets off of work. So I usually go in and get my usual doughnut and/or drink such as a soda or milk. On December 31, 2012, my coworker drove me to the same location at approximately 9:25pm. I began to open the door and much to my surprise, the door was locked tight. I looked up and I see a note on the door that states they will be closing at 10pm in observance of the New Years Eve celebrations. I remember seeing the note previously from when I was at this location on a day to day basis for the past two weeks. But it didn't bother me, because I knew my husband would be there WAY before closing time. Clearly, it was way before closing time at this store per the note on the door. This is not a very safe area and definitely not one for a female who is alone, carrying a purse and her own laptop computer in her laptop carrying case on New Years Eve. There was a security guy who was still in there. He did open the door and ask if I was okay and I said yes, and told him that I come here everyday to wait on my husband and eat a snack. He said ok and closed and locked the door again. About 5-7 mins later, the security guard came out and began talking to a female in an SUV. I was on the phone with my husband and we were discussing the issue at hand and he kept me on the phone to make sure that I was safe until he arrived. My wait was about 20-25 mins. I took it upon myself to take a picture of the same sign that was posted on the door. This apparently offended the officer and he proceeded to badger me about my nature of the picture. I then proceeded to tell him that I would be writing corporate to let them know of the situation at hand and that the note completely contradicted what was on the letter taped to the door. I assure you this, other arrangements would have been made for me to wait elsewhere or with my coworker who dropped me off. The conversation continued to go downhill with the officer. I told him that the note on the door says nothing about closing before 10p and that it states clearly that Krispy Kreme would be open until 10p. He then pointed to the drive-thru and said that the drive-thru would be open until 10p and I said it doesn't state anywhere on that note. He proceeded to get nasty and raise his voice to me and say "it doesn't have to state it on the note"...My husband at that time arrived to pick me up and he heard our squabble and asked what the problem was and I told him. I then got in the car and we drove off. This was the nastiest officer at this location. First of all, when I come up to KK to wait on my husband, I ALWAYS get something to eat or drink. I am a paying customer who enjoys coming into your store and thought that you all would employ people who treated their customers with care and concern. Clearly that is not the case at this location. To me, this is false advertising. If you are not going to be open until a certain time, please do not say you are, and by all means, don't put it on a written note. I have saved in my phone a picture of the letter that was taped on the door at this location. I cannot upload it into this particular email section as it will not allow me. However, I would love to send it to you in a regular email as an attachment. It broke my heart and broke my love for Krispy Kreme. I thought you all were much better than what I had experienced that night. I was already upset that I had to wait by myself in the cold, dark night because like I said, if I had known that you all were going to be closed before then, arrangements would have been made. The note clearly misrepresented what actually took place and what time this store actually closed. I don't know if I will be able to go back into your store. And I hope that you all can make arrangements to make this wrong right. The people that you hired at this location totally misrepresented what I thought Krispy Kreme was. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. Sandi Winkler
